Welcome
to the Thomas Miller Furniture website.
“I Love Wood” is the sign on my work shop door that I open every
working day. Sometimes I walk right by and don’t see it and other times
I take notice and smile. For more than 30 years I’ve designed and built
custom-made furniture and still get excited over the possibilities beautiful
wood has to
offer. From reproducing some great antique pieces to getting “artsy”,
my artisan skills and creative design have evolved and that’s thanks
to you, my customers.
After a University of Denver engineering degree I followed my boyhood passion
to play hockey in the NHL. In a six year professional career I played
with the Detroit Red Wings and the New
York Islanders as well as several minor
league cities from Omaha to
New Haven.
After hockey we settled into our home on a farm in southern Ontario. I began
in earnest honing my skills restoring antiques and learning the cabinetmaker’s
craft. Passion number two was starting to take root … making custom furniture.
Working with your ideas, designing, building, and finally finishing your
treasure puts another smile on my face. I promote local Canadian hardwoods
like tiger and Birdseye maple, cherry, or walnut and use recycled eastern white
pine to create unique pieces of history. Call me green.
Building and buying quality furniture is one of the best investments we can
make. A bed or table that is used every day should be a joy to own forever.
Using traditional joinery, the finest materials and paying attention to details
defines Thomas Miller Furniture.

As the poet John Keats wrote: “A thing of beauty is a joy forever
- Its loveliness increases; it will never Pass into nothingness …”
